RYA Powerboat Levels
Start Powerboating here levels 1 -2
Adult
The RYA Powerboat Level 1 and RYA Powerboat Level 2 courses are perfect for anyone starting their powerboat journey who wants to gain confidence and skills on the water. The RYA Level 1 course is one day and is aimed to introduce you to powerboating. The RYA Level 2 course is your powerboat driving licence; with it, you will have the confidence to go on short trips, which is usually the minimum requirement for hiring a powerboat. It also allows you to apply for your international certificate of competence, allowing you to hire boats in many overseas locations. Unlike other courses, you do not need to do your level 1 before your level 2.

Youth
The Youth RYA Powerboat Level 1 and Level 2 courses are great for young adventurers, with Level 1 available for ages 8 and up, introducing the basics in a fun one-day session. The Level 2 course, for ages 12 and older, serves as a powerboat driving licence, allowing for short trips and the opportunity to apply for an international certificate of competence for renting boats abroad. Participants can also join our Youth RIB Club for further skill development and exciting adventures with peers. Remember, you can take Level 2 without completing Level 1 first!
Further Powerboat Courses
Develop your skills
Our higher courses are there for you to push your skills further and get involved with activities at the club. We offer the RYA Safety Boat and Regional Mark Laying course. The Safety Boat Course is designed to improve the knowledge of those individuals involved in safety boat activities, covering the methods of rescue and the handling of safety boats efficiently. The RYA Regional Mark Layers Course teaches the attendees on how to establish and lay racing marks to increase the efficiency and safety of these events. Both courses offer desired knowledge and practical skills for participants who are connected with preparation and organization of water sport activities for competition and leisure.
