Duration: 20hrs
Running Time:
Course 1: 3x 2hr Evenings 6:30 - 8:30 + 14 hrs assisting with WJS or Junior Courses
Course 2: 1x Day 9:30 - 4:30 + 114 hrs assisting with WJS or Junior Courses
Certification: RYA Assistant Instructor
Minimum Standard: RYA Seamanship Skills or Direct Assessment
Age: 12+

Course Content
Building on the foundation of your sailing skills, the RYA Assistant Instructor Course at Royal Lymington Yacht Club combines both theory and practical sessions to prepare you for a teaching role. The course covers operational procedures, effective teaching techniques, and group management strategies, ensuring you have the knowledge and confidence to assist in delivering safe and engaging sessions on the water.
With a balance of classroom learning and practical experience, you’ll gain valuable insights into what it takes to lead and inspire others. Guided by experienced instructors, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of how to plan lessons, manage groups, and create a positive learning environment.
