Course Content
RYA Level 2 Basic Skills is the next step once you have completed your RYA Level 1. You can take this course if you have other relevant experience. This course is designed to build on skills learned on level 1 while also introducing capsize recovery, man overboard, and different forms of launching and landing. By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge to take a craft on the water independently in light to medium wind.
The course will begin with a recap of tacking and gybing from level 1, followed by some time to consolidate knowledge. Once we are happy, the instructor will start introducing the next topics on level 2. We will likely sail in multiple areas on Lymington River and the West Solent to get used to a range of conditions. We will aim to use both single-handed and double-handed boats. We can adapt the plans to suit the participants.
